First toon    Previous toon    Next toon    Today's toon
In a desperate ploy to regain past levels of productivity, the metacartoonist resorts to single-panel gag strippery to preserve at least the semblance of a comic -- and yet, driven by desperation as this action necessarily was, the result is palpably masterful, the interplay between iconic Man and Woman counterpointing the interplay between knee-jerk patriotism and the cynicism we all miss from, as Mark Russell puts it, "the good old days, when George Dubya was stupid."

The script used to make this toon:
<cartoon height="300" width="400" rowformat="1">
<panel>
  <character name="hick"/>
  <character name="chick"/>
  <caption location="top left" fgcolor="grey">God bless America!</caption>
  <caption location="bottom right" fgcolor="blue">Why?  Did it sneeze?</caption>
</panel>
</cartoon>
