Actual captions from the XML. And a resounding call to arms for the minimalist humor school. "Lee" is, of course, the redoubtable Lee Adam Herold, who is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I've ever known. The men all loved him.

If you're quite sharp-eyed, you may notice a little dot above the caption in the first panel. That dot alludes to the voiceless non-cartooning fans of the world, personified by its discoverer, gopher. The dot says, "Look at me! I am significant." But it says it very quietly.
