Time

Michael, did you know that clock being used for your forum is at least 10 minutes fast? I just read a 12:58 post at 12:48.

For reference, the time according to time.nist.gov at the time of posting is 00:50:40

Wow, 13 minutes. How'd it get so far ahead?

It's been gaining for a long time. About four years.

Yes, the box is running about ten minutes fast.

...

How *do* you set the time on Solaris? I've just never taken the time to find out.

Well, I don't have root on a solaris box handy, but it looks from the help output to be the same as in Linux ('date mmddHHMM'), with the capital letters being hour and minute.

Another option would be rdate, i.e 'rdate time.nist.gov'

Ooh. Works like magic. Thanks, gopher.
