SCUMF update

Not much of an update, but yesterday I started the coding that will be necessary to integrate the Toon-o-Matic into the workflow environment. It's safe to say, of course, that as cool as it would be, there will be no SCUMF on the 21st (Toonbots 4th anniversary). But it's very possible that SCUMF beta testing -- that's you people -- will be starting in November.

mention of the anniversary! can we hope for a toon? (it's actually better that it would be a 'classic' toonbots toon, rather the something by some newby)

You can hope.

Well, I suppose so -- but it would have been neat to have SCUMF in beta by the anniversary. I guess I can console myself that SCUMF is actually in development by the anniversary, which is no mean feat.

Sluggy Freelance has run for *seven years* and I've been reading for six... What freaked me out is that Pete's daughter is however-many-years old and I remember when she was born.

You left out part of the chorus, though. "Pour a cheerful toast and fill it, happy anniversary, but be careful you don't spill it, happy anniversary! Ohhhhhh..." (I actually have this on my "Songs of the Flintstones" CD).

In honor of the occasion, I present random image links of unusual chairs: http://www.artnet.com/magazine/features/zemaitis/zemaitis3-27-9.asp

ok, the foot is just weird, but the koala is rather cute. one could actually make something similar with wolverines....although the chair might be harder to get out of....

Ee-yowtch

One of the prerequisites to making the Toon-o-Matic play well with others (i.e. embedded in workflow) -- at least, one of the artificial prerequisites which is allowing me to justify this time expenditure to myself -- is getting my wftk Perl module working. I spent more time polishing up the XMLAPI part of it today. That's progress.

Then I decided to go ahead and put the Toon-o-Matic code onto the server and look at it for the first time in a long time. Man, it's going to take some work. Definitely November, not October. Whew.

I didn't actually say November of which year, did I? No? Good.

I'm laying bets on November 2008 at earliest myself. Any takers?
