Mickey and the Muppets

As most of you are probably aware, of late the Disney corporation has had more ups and downs than a wolverine's digestive tract on New Year's, and almost as gripping as the D&[Insert Letter] take over of Pickle Crisp.

A few days ago, after Pixar's departure, the failed Comcast bid, and news that Harvey Weinstein wants to pull Miramax out, Eisner bought the Muppets (contrasting with animation head David Stainton's claim that Pixar's leaving was a good thing because it would reaffirm the studio's faith in the ability of the remnants of the animation department, now all CG, to create new characters and stories and not rely on franchises. Ha!)

As a result, it would seem that the Muppet costumes at DisneyWorld have been brought out of storage. This is what we have to look forward to, along with the possibility of CG Muppets, or so it would seem: http://www.enchanter.net/lj/muppets/DCP_4800.JPG

No doubt the next Disney direct to video filled with stock footage from prior TV shows and new filler will involve Miss Piggy flirting with Mickey while Gonzo and Donald Duck accidentally set fire to Dumbo's hat.

That sounds fairly entertaining, actually. But then I always had a soft spot for crossovers.

Thus speaks a man who presumably has never seen "Porky and Daffy Meet the Groovie Ghoulies," a rare opportunity to see classic Looney Tunes characters handled by the producer of "He-Man" and "Gilligan's Planet."

well .... presumably the results justified the epithet "looney".... but one suspects, not "groovy".

good god. it sounds like what would happen if 2 screen writers, each with an armload of various scripts, cannoned into each other, and just grabbed up random pages and tacked them together into a movie...
