Snow!!

We finally have a little winter here in Bloomington today. Lots of snow suddenly fell out of the sky with no warning at all. It's beautiful.

somedays i miss snow.

then i realize that it's 62 degrees out and i feel like i'm freezing to death, and we aren't even out of january and i feel like winter has gone on _forever_...and i realize i'm just not a snow-area person.

More snow today!

School was cancelled even. Not sure why; it didn't look like that much more, but my guess is the meltoff from yesterday refroze during the night.

Re: Snow!!

We're supposed to get some tonight. I'm not a fan of snow if I have to go out in it. Luckily, I'm not working again.

Re: Snow!!

Astonishingly enough, El Paso had a brief snow flurry on Sunday. Just enough to leave thick icy white clumps on the cars, and not much else. Not enough for Otu to have a snow cone, even. My dad had been predicting it, though, because his office cat was growing shaggy haired like never before.

No, domestic livestock growing shaggy haired is a traditional sign of snow in the Southwest. Other signs include unusually busy beavers and ravenously feeding buffalo, but we seem to be fresh out of those at present.

The caterpillars (wooly bears) around here /lied/ to us!

They predicted a mild winter. I suspect a conspiracy of epic proportion.

Well, after all, caterpillars are merely the predecessors of the butterflies. Evidently your snow has been falling inexorably as the latter.

Sympathy, Jenn. Hope you and yours stay bundled up and use this as an excuse to smoke ant, er, drink hot chocolate and such.

huh - well, one learns something new every day. i shall examine my own cat forthwith (although she seems to manage to shed copiously without ever going through the shaggy stage...perhaps that signifies a long spring, or something.)

so what do 'unusually' busy beavers do? build condos? (or possibly investment portfolios?)
