Return of the King - 11.2

Despite a conspicuous lack of pirates -- although there were some Arab-ninja guys on the elephants -- Return of the King was everything I had hoped it could be. It probably would have gotten 11.5 on my ten-point scale if Peter Jackson hadn't gone hog-wild with the storyline there (Hugo Weaving rulez somewhat less here than in Matrix 3, because that whole scene with Aragorn in the tent was just a little too overacted to ring true as elven).

At 3.5 hours, it was short. And glorious.

The third of the must-see movies of the latter part of 2003. And, conspicuously, the third of the *only* three movies I saw in the latter part of 2003.

Which reminds me: I have to go rent Sinbad in English.

so _here_ you get all detailed. *sigh*

see comments under "matrix 3.0"

yeah, it's a pity they didn't expand the role of the corsairs a bit more - i mean, the ships made great pirate ships, but we didn't get to see the original crew.

maybe on the dvd.

Yes, we did, actually, in the very first appearance of the ships, for about 2.8 seconds out of the 3.5-hour movie.
