Not entirely dead yet

So, OK, I'm a jerk. You already knew that.

I could plead five months' mold buildup, and an allergic son. I could plead having nothing left in the bank account. I could even plead having spent a lot of last week's free time reading the news and chortling about payback time. But when you get right down to it, I'm not a very social person and I tend to hide when things get too much, and forget birthdays and anniversaries and stuff. This comes of growing up miles away from everyone, and learning to rely on your science fiction and the voices in your head for company.

All I can say is, this is the new and improved me. I used to be much worse. It was good of Brother Emsworth to call and tell me I was being a jerk, and I appreciate it. And the rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.

Only if you lie down inside your ductwork, apparently.

hmmm....that sounds painful.

well, it does seem a bit much that you told jenn to stuff her anniversary (and on her birthday!)- and if you are getting pay back, your bank account shouldn't be in _that_ bad a shape. but i think we kind of suspected that you were a socialist, so i doubt we need to give you a hiding for that. and i'm glad to hear your roomer isn't dead (although it might explain the mold).

welcome back!

(and i trust you will soon be sharing the results of your chortling with the rest of us)
