Goodbye, Fred

http://www.capitalnews9.com/content/headlines/?ArID=15821&SecID=33

My sister adored Mr. Rogers. When she had to leave the room, she'd say "Tell Mr. Rogers I'll be right back." Speedy Delivery, the trolley, Mr. Rogers feeding the fish, those little operettas, the trips to the crayon factory, to see musical instruments made, to Mr. Rogers' own studio, Dainel Striped Tiger who was shy and sensitive and perhaps the closest to a real child that any children's puppet show has ever come, Meow Meow Meow Henrietta Pussycat, the lovably authoritarian King Friday, delightfully scheming and refreshingly ugly Lady Elaine Fairchild, Picture Picture, and so forth. So many memories.

"It's such a good feeling, to know you're alive, It's such a happy feeling, you're growing inside, And when you wake up, ready to say, I think I'll make us happy today, 'Cause it's a good feeling, A very good feeling, The feeling you know that I'll be back when the day is through And I'll have more ideas for you And you'll have things you'll want to talk about I will too."

God bless the man.

Well said. Very sad to receive word of such a passing; he'll be much and rightly missed.

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a beautiful day for a neighbor; will you be mine? Will you be mine?

It's a neighborly day in a beauty wood, a neighborly day for a beauty; will you be mine? Will you be mine?

I have always wanted to have a neighbor just like you; always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you:

So let's make the most of this beautiful day; since we're together, we might as well say:

Will you be mine, will you be mine, won't you be my neighbor?

Won't you please, won't you please, Please won't you be my neighbor?

Go in peace, Mister Rogers. We will miss you.

Your neighbor, spinclad (Roger Hale)
