Scooby-Doo - 10.0

My God. Hollywood got a movie just bang-on completely *right*. My life is complete.

As I told my sister after we took our kids to this movie: "This was just like Scooby-Doo, except good." I admit it. Although I am just as steeped in Scooby as anyone else who grew up in America in the 70's, I never really *liked* it, once I realized they all had the exact same plot. (Yes, Tirdun, I know your mileage varies.)

But this movie was just like that, except it had a plot that was written without using a dartboard. Really! Shaggy, particularly, took this show completely. And there were so *many* nods to the adults in the audience, particularly the choice of unmaskee at the end -- I have to say that the plot resolution in this movie has erased years of neurosis on my part, leaving me with a deep and complete satisfaction. Further deponent sayeth not, as I wouldn't want to be accused of spoilers.

Plus there were one and a half repetitions of "And I would have gotten away with it, too, if it hadn't been for you meddling kids!" Hee, hee. And some very satisfying wire work involving Daphne, who has learned a few new moves since the 70's.

Go see this movie.
