Gah! Dash AOL's browser caches! Ahem. Never mind. You came through with flying colors, Mr. Roberts (with a little help from a certain Acadian)! Dick and Mao! Sweaty disguised Dick at that! Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Beef punkles!

Okay, off to bed now.

I'm glad you liked it.

I liked it too.

And I thought Mr. Adams needed a good ribbing (though I'm speaking through my hat, since I've nor seen nor heard his treatment of the subject. But the pun wasn't one for me to resist, for all that it's -nearly- irrelevant...*)

Jokes regarding honorable modern opera like ceiling fan... typically over one's head.

I, too, have to admit that I have no idea whatsoever what Eric's talking about.

Ya vant the lowdown, I'll give ya the lowdown...

Seeing Mao and Tricky together again at long last (ah, the memories... hey waitaminim there I was born in 1969, wha' memories????? getoutahere Ericol'buddy...) reminded me of an opera I know about (pretty well known in my "circle")- John Adams' Nixon in China. As operas written in the last few decades go it actually is one of the most famous (which isn't saying much at all...) and Nixon and Mao do, memory serves, meet in it. An-y-how!!!

Thinking of John Adams, my free-associating mind, thinks of Adam. And thinks of Adam's (Adams- Adam's) rib. And thinks of "giving someone a ribbing." So... my very... Attenuated. Weak. And generally distant and ... reaching... "joke."

But having thought of it, I had to let loose for my own sake, for all that it only made sense to me.

Sorry...

(If the deliberately schmaltzy style of this isn't a hint of its intended tone and my goofy mood, add plenty of smilies for emphasis if necessary ;) )

Free-association like lost traveler... tends to take erratic route to reach certain point.

Obtuse, elaborate humour much like certain stocks... sadly underappreciated.

Seriously, it does make sense now, and is mildly amusing at that. Also reminds me that I haven't seen the Tracy/Hepburn film "Adam's Rib: in years.
